What makes a private day different
It’s just your group out there — 1 to 6 snowmobiles, no other guests, your pace. No mixed groups means no pressure. Whether you’re a confident rider or a first-timer, the focus is on your enjoyment and safety.
Want to stop for a drone shoot? You can use your own equipment or we can use ours. We have a 360 camera, a drone and a professional camera available, and we can take photos and videos for you too. Want to cover as much ground as possible? We adapt the day. If you have a specific interest — drone footage, fresh snow, a particular kind of terrain — mention it when you book, when you arrive, or even as we go.
You’re welcome to drive to our base (free parking) — or we’ll pick you up for free from your accommodation in or near Rovaniemi. The standard arrival at base is 09:00; other start times can be arranged in advance. The normal full day is about 7 hours in total, and this too can be customised when arranged in advance.
What the day looks like
You arrive at our base in Sinettä around 09:00 — a small village 20 minutes north of Rovaniemi. We step through the briefing and kit you out with thermal overalls, boots, helmet and gloves. Then we head outside to walk through the snowmobile itself: how it works, how the throttle responds, how we ride together as a group.
The first stretch is the training section — getting a feel for the throttle, the brake, how the machine moves under you. Then the trail opens up. Forest closes in on either side, the trees heavy with snow, and the trail curves between them. The route winds through dense forest, open marshlands, and across wide frozen lakes where you really feel the sense of freedom. Your guide reads the day as it goes, finding the best spots for the conditions that day.
Around midday we stop at Arctic SnowHotel for a warm lunch at the cosy Kota restaurant — a warm indoor restaurant with an open fire in the middle. The à la carte menu has soup, salads, pasta dishes and burgers, with reindeer, salmon, chicken and vegetarian options. There’s about an hour to take the gear off, sit down by the fire, and properly warm up.
The return journey takes a different path, often climbing to higher ground for views over the landscape. By the time you reach base around 16:00, you’ve covered 70 to 100 kilometres of backcountry trail and seen parts of Lapland that most visitors never reach.
Is this tour for you?
A good fit if you:
- Are travelling as a couple, a family of adults, or a small group of friends
- Want a full day in the wilderness rather than a short outing
- Are happy to let an experienced guide read the day and pick the route
- Or have a specific interest you’d like to bring along
- Prefer to ride without sharing the day with strangers
