A snowmobile tour for those who want to spend more time riding
This afternoon tour is designed for guests who want a little more from their snowmobiling experience — more time on the machine, more varied terrain, and the chance to actually learn how to ride.
We head out from our base in Sinettä at 14:00, into the backcountry north of Rovaniemi. The trails are quieter here, the forest is thicker, and the landscape feels more remote than the routes closer to the city. This is where we ride every day.
The Arctic afternoon light is part of the experience. In the depths of winter, the sun doesn’t rise above the horizon at all — but that doesn’t mean darkness. The whole short day becomes a long sunset in soft blues, pinks and oranges. As spring approaches, the days get longer, but the low sun keeps the colours.
What the day looks like
We start with a warm welcome at our base, a chance to step inside and get warm, and a proper briefing — today’s weather, how the snowmobile works, how we ride together as a group. Then we get you kitted out with thermal overalls, boots, helmet and gloves.
Once we head out, the first stretch is easy, so everyone feels comfortable on the machine. As the group settles in, we pick up the pace and move into more varied terrain — narrower forest trails, gentle climbs, open sections across frozen lakes. Your guide rides with the group and gives tips along the way: how to position your body in turns, how to keep the machine stable, how to read the trail ahead. Small things that make a big difference.
We take breaks when they make sense — a hot drink at a good viewpoint, a moment to take photos if the light is beautiful, and then back on the machine. The pace depends on the group and the conditions, but the focus of this tour is on the ride itself.
Why this tour, and why us
Most guests choose a single snowmobile for themselves — it’s easier to handle and more enjoyable when you’re learning. If you’re travelling as a couple and prefer to share one, that works just as well. You can switch drivers at the breaks. Prices are per person, not per snowmobile.
The group stays small — usually 4 to 6 snowmobiles — and you’ll have the same guide with you for the whole tour. We’re a family business and we enjoy what we do. Our guides have been riding these forests since they were young, and they love sharing them with people who come here for the first time. They’ll take photos and short videos during the tour and email them to you afterwards, so you don’t need to worry about stopping for pictures.
Out here, there’s usually no-one else around. You won’t see a long line of snowmobiles in front of you, and the only engines you’re likely to hear are your own group’s. This is our everyday office, and we know it well.
